Glimpses of a Tree’s Mind: A Poem on Nature and Preservation
I have always loved trees, and I believe everyone feels a connection to their beauty and importance. My professor, who adores living in places surrounded by nature, often shares how trees bring peace and balance to life. Inspired by this, I decided to write a poem when I witnessed the heartbreaking sight of trees being cut down alongside the road to make it wider. It made me realise a profound truth—if we can’t contribute to growing trees, we have no right to destroy them. Through my poem, I hope to shed light on the vital role trees play and encourage everyone to protect them for a better future.
Glimpses of Tree's Mind
It was a time when I was valued,
In life, death, and religion,
I was a giver every moment,
In medicine, shade, fruits, and flowers.
Everything has two sides,
Virtues and vices.
But I have only one –
The side of goodness, unending.
Oh, God, bless me still!
I can give life on this earth,
Yet they don’t want me to live.
Grant them some wisdom, I pray.
Why do you underestimate me?
Can't you see your own lifeline?
If I can think for your survival,
Why can't you think for mine?
You are busy expanding your empire,
Cutting away your own breath.
Now, I live only in papers and slogans,
And my future seems bleak.
If you wish for a better life,
Adopt me as your child.
Nourish me as your own
And let’s live together.
