A Tribute to My Favourite Teacher: The Inspiration Behind My Academic Success
I had never thought of writing a poem about my favourite teacher, but one day I shared a poem titled *Memories of Pencil* with my professor. She liked it, appreciated my efforts, and encouraged me to keep writing. She then suggested I write something based on my personal experiences, and the very next morning, I made it happen. I posted this poem to her, and she replied, “Very nice thought. Keep on writing. We’ll sit one day to modify." I felt as if she trusted me blindly.
This poem is dedicated to my favourite teacher, Mr. Ganesh Kanpati, who has been a part of my life since I was in 10th class. In 11th grade, I took Humanities, and he became my Economics teacher. While I initially didn’t like Economics, his teaching made me love the subject, and I ended up being one of the top 3 scorers in the class. Because of his complete trust in me, I became the 2nd highest ranking student in 12th grade. His unwavering support has been like a confidence booster for me.
Before every exam, no matter how much I prepared, I would feel anxious and low on confidence. But he would always show up, just like a dose of confidence booster—like the sunrise after a long dark night.
So, I dedicate this poem to him, and I truly want to thank God for giving me such a wonderful gift in my otherwise mundane Life. I hope you will like this poem.
My Favourite Teacher for Forever
I called him, and he answered,
"Hello, have you remembered me?"
"No, not at all," I softly said,
“Oh really!” he laughed, carefree.
"What is remembered is that which is forgotten,
But you are not one of them, you see.
Until my last breath,
I’ll carry your memory with me."
"You are the sun of my misty life,"
Clearing the fog, bringing me light.
In times of doubt and confusion,
You’ve always guided me right.
"Thank you, my dear student," he said,
A teacher so kind and wise.
The trust you've placed in me,
Has made my hope rise.
Whether we stay in touch or not,
You’ll always be my guiding light,
At every step along my path,
"Because you are the Sun, so bright."
"Dearest Ganesh Sir,
How fortunate am I to have you,
Thank you, God, for this surprise gift,
In my mundane life."
